Drake tour details: The long-awaited return

Drake announced the February 2025 tour during an Instagram Live session with streamer xQc, also hinting at his upcoming collaborative album with PartyNextDoor. While exact dates and ticketing information have yet to be released on his official site, we know the tour kicks off on Sunday, February 9, 2025, coinciding with Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show. Grab the popcorn.

This coincidence is already sparking debate among fans about which event will dominate the cultural zeitgeist. With stops in Melbourne, Sydney, and the Gold Coast, Drake’s return has been a long time coming—his last Australian tour was in 2017 for the 'Boy Meets World' tour, during which he played seven shows across the country.

Is Drake trying to position himself on the opposite side of the globe when K.dot has his big halftime moment to escape the inevitable shaming of 'Not Like Us' playing during the most watched sporting event in the world? We'll leave it to you to decide.

To build anticipation, Drake teased the tour earlier this month with a nostalgic Instagram post featuring a photo of himself overlooking the Sydney Opera House, captioned, “It’s been like 7 years,” alongside three cheeky eyeball emojis.

Drake’s musical evolution since 2017

Drake’s last Australian tour came on the heels of his 'Views' album success, which included iconic tracks like “One Dance” and “Hotline Bling.” Since then, his discography has expanded with five major projects:

Scorpion (2018): Featuring hits like “In My Feelings” and “God’s Plan”

Certified Lover Boy (2021): A homage to his melodic style, showcasing tracks like “Way 2 Sexy” and collaborations with Future and Young Thug.

Honestly, Nevermind (2022): Drake experimented with house music, demonstrating his versatility on tracks like “Massive.”

Her Loss (2022): A joint project with 21 Savage, this album leaned into trap-heavy beats

For All The Dogs (2023): Drake returned to his emotional roots while exploring fatherhood

The Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar beef

Sure, there's been a lot of music, but unquestionably, the biggest reason Drake has been in our feeds lately is his ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar. This beef has taken centre stage in the hip-hop world, reigniting conversations about rap rivalries and artistic competition.

The tension reportedly started when Kendrick Lamar excluded Drake from the "big three" of hip-hop—a group often cited as Kendrick, Drake, and J. Cole. During an interview, Kendrick suggested the big three could only be “big me,” implying that Drake and Cole's status wasn’t quite on the same level.

Drake didn’t take this lightly. He responded subtly in interviews and not-so-subtly in music, reigniting a rivalry that had been simmering since their 'Control' days, where Kendrick famously called out Drake along with other rappers (albeit in a friendly way).

In recent months, the feud escalated into a full-blown diss track battle. Both artists released tracks that tore into each other’s reputations, questioning character, artistry, and even family matters. In one track, Drake mocked Kendrick’s Super Bowl Halftime Show announcement, rapping, “Headlining the Bowl but can’t headline the charts.” Kendrick fired back with biting lines about Drake’s reliance on ghostwriters and his penchant for chasing pop appeal, spitting, “Your pen’s as rented as the cars in your lot.” The beef has divided fans, with some praising Kendrick’s lyrical depth and others lauding Drake’s consistency and cultural influence.

What to expect from Drake's Anitta Max Wynn Tour in Australia 2025

Drake’s tour setlist spans his career, including classics like “God’s Plan” and “Nonstop,” alongside newer hits and some stellar potential guest appearances. Could we see PartyNextDoor join him on stage to perform new tracks? Or even Australian artists making a cameo? Drake has a history of collaborating with local talent, so the possibilities are endless.
