About this Event

After years of what seemed like an endless sibling rivalry, the Gallagher brothers have finally called a truce, and Oasis is back together. Yep, Liam and Noel are burying the hatchet and hitting the road again for a reunion tour!

While the UK and Ireland are confirmed stops, the rest of the world is still in the dark. Oasis has hinted at a world tour, but they’re playing coy about the details, leaving Aussies with one burning question: will we be on the tour map?

Are we about to witness one of the biggest rock comebacks of all time on Aussie soil? Let’s dive into the possibilities and what we know so far about the Oasis reunion and see if we can uncover any clues about the band making their way to Australia.

What brought on the Oasis reunion?

After years of denying even the slightest chance of a comeback, the Gallagher brothers have done what many thought was impossible: they’ve officially reunited. This isn’t just a one-off gig, either. Liam and Noel are set to headline a string of live shows across the UK and Ireland in 2025, marking the end of a 15-year hiatus that has kept fans waiting and hoping.

So, what’s the deal with these reunion dates? Well, the band will be making their grand return in some of the biggest venues in the UK. Expect four massive shows at London’s Wembley Stadium and another four at Heaton Park in their hometown of Manchester. They’re also scheduled for two shows each in Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Dublin, totalling 14 gigs between July and August 2025.

Now, while Liam and Noel are back in action, it’s still up in the air whether former Oasis members like guitarist Gem Archer and bassist Andy Bell will join them on stage. The reunion coincides with the 30th anniversary of their debut album, ‘Definitely Maybe,’ the record that set the UK music scene on fire, becoming the fastest-selling debut album at the time.

As for the financial side of things, British reports suggest the band could rake in an eye-watering £400 million (around $778 million) from these dates alone.

What broke Oasis up in the first place?

The story of Oasis’s breakup is as legendary as the band itself, steeped in sibling rivalry, backstage drama, and a final blowout that spelled the end of an era. The Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, were notorious for their fiery relationship, and their constant feuding became almost as iconic as their music. It all came to a head on August 28, 2009, at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.

Just moments before they were set to hit the stage, the brothers got into a physical altercation backstage. What exactly happened has been the subject of countless interviews and fan speculation, but one thing was clear: this was the breaking point. The very next day, Noel announced he was leaving the band, stating, “It is with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight.” He made it clear that the decision wasn’t made lightly but was necessary because he could no longer work with Liam.

The tension had been building for a while. In various interviews, Noel has described the band’s final year as a “terrible, terrible time” and referred to the last tour as anything but enjoyable. According to him, the atmosphere within the band had soured to the point where continuing seemed impossible. While some other members have tried to downplay the negativity of those final days, Noel remains adamant that the writing was on the wall long before that fateful night in Paris.

After the split, both brothers went their separate ways, carving out successful solo careers but never truly escaping the shadow of Oasis. Liam formed Beady Eye with a few former Oasis bandmates, including Gem Archer and Andy Bell, but eventually went solo. He’s currently touring, celebrating the 30th anniversary of ‘Definitely Maybe,’ often joined by original Oasis guitarist Paul Arthurs, aka Bonehead.

On the other hand, Noel launched Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds in 2010 and has since released several successful albums, including last year’s ‘Council Skies.’ While they’ve each found success in their own right, the feud between them has continued to simmer, with insults and jabs flying back and forth over the years.

The Oasis reunion is a massive deal

To say Oasis was a big deal in the ’90s would be an understatement—they were the defining act of the Britpop era. With over 75 million records sold worldwide, their influence on music and culture is undeniable. Chart-topping albums, swagger and how they captured a generation’s spirit made them legendary.

One of the best examples of their monumental impact is the band’s headlining concerts at Knebworth in 1996. These weren’t just gigs; they were historic moments. The demand for tickets was off the charts—literally. Over 2.5 million people, more than 4% of the UK population at the time, tried to get their hands on one. Ultimately, 250,000 lucky fans got to experience the magic over two nights, making it the biggest outdoor concert in UK history until Robbie Williams broke the record in 2003.

So, why does an Oasis reunion matter so much? For starters, their music isn’t just stuck in the ’90s—it’s timeless. Tracks like ‘Wonderwall’ have become anthems that continue to resonate with fans old and new. In Australia, their success was just as impressive, with nearly every single they released between 1994 and 1998 landing on the ARIA charts. Their second album, ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?,’ didn’t just top the charts; it went eight times Platinum, cementing Oasis as a household name Down Under.

‘Wonderwall,’ in particular, has been crowned the biggest song of the past 20 years on Triple J’s Hottest 100 and continues to be a go-to singalong track for anyone who grew up in or around the ’90s.
